On June 26, Panssari was one of the eight finalists in SpinUOC 2025, the annual innovation and entrepreneurship program of the Open University of Catalonia. Its smart surveillance platform stood out as the only centralized solution for protection and security in port environments and critical infrastructure, capturing the attention of the jury and industry experts with its technological, realistic approach backed by field validation.
The presentation was led by Helena Calva Oria (CEO) and César de la Torre (CTO), both co-founders of Panssari. During their pitch, they clearly outlined the project’s vision:
“Critical infrastructure security is a market that is constantly growing (+2.9% annually). Choosing Panssari isn’t just an investment in technology—it’s an investment in a safer future. Because in a world where threats evolve faster than traditional solutions, Panssari is the answer.”
Panssari combines computer vision with image tagging, modular sensors, and deep learning AI to detect people and vehicles in real time, thereby strengthening access control and surveillance across the entire area of any port or critical infrastructure.
The solution combines:
The project has received €380,000 in funding from the Ports 4.0 program administered by Puertos del Estado and is already implementing an installation in the Port of Santander in collaboration with Noatum TPS and the Port Authority.
SpinUOC recognizes projects with immediate social and economic impact. Panssari’s solution:
Complies with the ISPS Code and regulations for the protection of critical infrastructure.
SpinUOC 2025 helped raise the project’s profile among key innovation stakeholders. Now, Panssari is looking to scale its solution to other critical infrastructures in Spain, Europe, and the U.S., while also laying the groundwork for a venture capital funding round.
